"Cheyenne"

Cheyenne is my dog Renegades littermate. In fact when I went to view the litter in 1999 I had a tough time choosing between these two. She has certainly grown into a beautiful dog. I couldn't get over how much she looks like Renegade! She is slightly lighter in color all over but otherwise their markings are identical. She is a very pretty dog and is what we refer to as a Powder or Frosted Blue (as is Renegade). We strongly suspect that Powder or Frosted Blues also carry the liver gene. This has been confirmed by other breeders who have livers and blues. Unlike the Steel Blues, Powder Blues do not look like normal colored German Shepherds when they are adults. They maintain the gray pigment rather than looking like diluted blacks.

Cheyennes exceptionally light coat color is quite evident in this shot.

Cheyenne is extremely people friendly. She was a very sweet dog.

I brought Renegade with me that day. Unfortunately he got muddy and I had to hose him off minutes before this pic was taken! That's Renegade on the left looking scruffy next to Cheyenne's picture perfect appearance! Ignoring his scruffiness, there is an amazing similarity in these two!

Cheyenne, left, with her and Renegades sire, Tecumsah. Tecumsah is not a blue but is obviously blue factored.

This is Cheyenne and Renegades dam and sire. Kachina is sitting in front of Tecumsah. Kachina is also not a blue but is blue factored. Interestingly enough, Kachina had three liver colored littermates and is where we suspect Renegade and Cheyenne picked up the liver gene from. Cheyenne and Tecumsah are owned by Cherokee Kennels. Cheyenne belongs to the breeders daughter.
